Rev It Up! With Intention

Intention-shakti
I often ask someone their intention.  In NLP and hypnosis, INTENTION is an important concept.  Before a class, a session, a discussion, it is often helpful to set your intention.  This week, I set the intention for my new office. I'm happy to say that the other's who rented from me have all agreed and we have set our intention! Here's what we agreed to:

It is our intention to build a practice and place of wellness and healing.  While the law clearly states that we as mental health practitioners can not "promise to heal or cure, we can all agree that this is our life purpose.  We believe that miracles can happen here.  We choose to help others design their lives to be the magnificent human beings that God created.  We strive for perfection, and understand and love life's imperfections.  We choose to avoid diagnosing (unless required by the legal bounds of our position to do so) or labeling and instead lead our clients to their highest potential.   We choose to support each other in creating a harmonious space to work and be.

The Oxymoron of Holiday Stress

Holiday Stress is an oxymoron!

It's funny to me how so many folks out there stress out over what should be zen moments in life.

Zen

I caught some great examples this long weekend.

Barbeque

Seems some folks went BBQ hopping to the extent of exaustion.  Others went somewhere else to party, like a lake or camping, and spent the whole weekend "having good old American weekend" of drinking, playing hard, over eating etc.  But they forgot one thing.  Relaxation.  So off they go to work this week, more tired than when they began.  They feel just plain "yucky".

So how about we plan some real relaxation soon.  Like a  Saturday spa day?

Sunday afternoon nap.  Read a book.  Go to a movie.  Chill!

Themes

If you've listened to me on the radio,  or read my writing on some other forum, you know that I often run across themes in life.  Themes that show up, and smack me in the office, in my personal life, on TV, on the radio.  If I call it a theme, it's because God, or the universe, or someone or something wants me to pay attention.

This week's theme is basics. Three simple health basics.

1.  WATER.  And lots of it.  Half your weight in water in ounces.  For example: someone who weights 200 pounds should drink 100 ounces of water per day!   Really? Most people ask.  Really!   The next comment is "Well I don't like water!"  Well that's like saying I don't like skin.  It's what your body is made of, for heavens sake.  So here is my water challenge.  For 1 week, place the amount of water on your counter, and carry what you should be drinking  around with you and see how much you actually drink...Your bag will get lighter as the day passes.  Add a splash of fruit juice for flavor if you must.  For each caffeinated beverage add another 2 cups of water!   And the bottled 0 calorie flavored waters are not good!  Here's why...

2.  The crap in your food!  Here's the challenge:  Check every product in your pantry and fridge and remove  any that have any of these three things: asparatame, msg, high fructose corn syrup.   Pull them all out and look at them.  You may be surprised.

3.  Move your body!  20 minutes of movement a day (like walking) will immediately make you feel better.  Just do it.
